Statement of Significance

This place is a representative example of an early shop and has historic value for its association with the development of the Maylands townsite, making a significant contribution to this
streetscape.

Physical Description

A classically derived and orthodox interpretation of classical treatments with three shops treated as one entity. The corner is marked with a pediment as is the centre of the terrace. The shopfronts appear to be original. It is a single storey structure with brick and stucco walls, an iron roof and a suspended awning over the pavements.

History

An integral component of the Whatley Crescent and Eighth Ave precincts and a place of aesthetic value in its own right. This is an architecturally pleasing composition that relates well to its important corner location and defines the entry to Eighth Ave.
