One of the few business premises still surviving and in use in the once built up Bayley Street precinct. Architecturally significant as a building type and for the use of local materials and general design and size of the building.
A large two-storey store built in stone with a two-storey verandah over the pavement with cast iron columns made by Stewart & Henley of Adelaide. A similar, single storey business premises is located adjacent. Originally built as a providoring store and still functioning for that purpose and remarkably still operated by the founder's descendants.
One of the earliest providoring businesses with an early family ownership being retained up to the present day.
