The place represents a phase of development of the region.
Hyla Henderson came from South Australia in 1923, and went to
Hyden in 1927, to take up land at Lake Carmody in 1928, as original settlers in the 3500 scheme, he was
one of the few "Australians" to settle in the scheme which was predominantly "British" orientated. The
Hendersons resettled into heavier soil country on an abandoned farm at Bendering in c1936.
Later Doris Goringe operated the phone exchange until it was auto connected to the Meekings at King
Rocks
