The place has significant associations with communication sin Wongan hills having been the post office for over 30 years. It also has associations with the Postmaster's way of life, and that of the Methodist Minister during the time the place was the manse.
Brick construction with a corrugated iron roof. The post office is aligned with the front boundary and has a recessed corner delineating the entry on the west front corner. The roof frontage is gabled. Recessed on the west side and rear of the post office is the adjoining residence. The gambrel roof has a split roof verandah surrounding the three sides of the place.
The post office was purpose built in 1928 and used until 1961 when a new building was constructed in Elphin Cres. From that time until 1993, the post office building was used as the Methodist manse. It is now privately owned.
