This place has historic significance. Cooglegong was a small townsite developed around gold mines prior to the turn of the 20th Century. A pub. stores and temporary housing were established for a number of miners.
Stone walls of a two room house still remain on the bank of the Cooglegong River. This may have been a hotel. In the 1970s Coolgegong was the scene of an operating tin mine. Today it is uninhabited.
