The place represents the provision of government subsidised housing by the State after World War Two and is an example of the second wave of State Housing construction in the City of Stirling following the end of World War Two.
The property is a single-storey prefabricated house constructed from a State Housing Commission Plan as Overseas Type T.I.U.2. The dwelling is of timber frame and weatherboard construction, with cement tiled roof and brick fireplace and chimney breast, and elevated on brick piers.
Constructed in c.1952, the house was building by the State Housing Commission in response to severe housing shortages. The Doubleview Estate was established in the late 1920s and 1930s. House, 170 Woodside Street, Doubleview was constructed in approximately 1952 as part of the second wave of State Housing construction in Stirling following the end of World War Two.
