It is representative of the typical workers' houses in the South Fremantle area. The place is a late example of the Victorian Georgian style of architecture.
Single storey weatherboard and iron cottage with a symmetrical facade designed as a late example of the Victorian Georgian style of architecture. The walls are painted horizontal weatherboards. The roof hipped with no eaves and clad with corrugated iron. The verandah is under a broken back corrugated iron roof and is supported by double decorative steel posts. There is a timber picket fence to the front boundary with a small garden area behind.
House, 24 Walker Street was built in 1920/21. Between c. 1903 and c. 1915, an earlier cottage had been on the lot. The cottage was built for Ernest Luff.
Between c. 1923 and c. 1940, House, 24 Walker Street was owned by Matthew Lang and occupied by a succession of tenants. The property was bought by John Monoghan c. 1940 and was sold to Hita Taylor in 1949/50.
A diagram dated 1954 shows a weatherboard cottage with a full length front verandah and a centrally located front path. Several small galvanised iron buildings were located in the backyard.
