This place is of some local significance as being evidence of educational facilities in the district. It is likely to have some social significance for people who attended the school or have been associated with it.
The Lunch shed or bough shed as it was commonly called, is set within school grounds. It is of panelled timber on three sides of the building unlined inside with a corrugated iron roof. The floor is of jarrah timber that used to be oiled with parraffin on a regular basis. The three sides have a bench seat to accommodate children while having lunch or during activities.
The Westonia School was established in 1914 and the building of the school and the bough shed were erected in 1915. The school has been dismantled leaving the bough shed as the last original building on the school site.
