Statement of Significance

The hotel has social significance to the shire, as a meeting place for the community - both formally and informally - and a source of recreation.

Simple single storey structure of ream brick, asbestos roof.

History

In 1963 a local company formed to promote and build the Pingrup Hotel - the site purchased for lOOpds. R G Price (Perth) prepared plans and on 15th April 1965 the hotel was opened by Minister for Local Government, Mr L A Logan. The first licensee was Mr John Maher, who took up residence in Pingrup with his wife and children. Many local farmers were shareholders in the company. Air conditioning was installed in 1994.
