The site represents a way of life associated with the hospitality and social life of the early Ballidu settlers which is no longer practised.
The cellar of the hotel is still evident on the site.
The hotel was strongly opposed by William Wallis.
The hotel was constructed on this site in anticipation of the proposed railway line. However when the railway line was constructed, it was some distance away from the hotel. The hotel was deconstructed brick by brick and relocated and reconstructed to the same design, less than a kilometre away in the Ballidu townsite in 1923. (see Ref No.)
