Statement of Significance
Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical timber framed single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Physical Description
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad walls with indented profile and a corrugated hipped roof house. The dropped verandah is supported by metal columns and has a cast metal frieze which is probably not original. The roof has a brick chimney with corbelling. The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Watkins Street; 52, 56, 62 & 64.
History
