The site and place have significant associations with generations of Piawanning people as the focus of social and community events. The site also has associations with education in the area.
Cream brick construction. Gable roof with a stepped parapet frontage with contrast brick design motif. South side early 1970s, toilets, late 1970s
Piawaning School opened 15 February 1922 and closed the same year. It opened again in May 1J927 and stayed open until February 1932. It reopened in November 1937 and closed for the last time on 16 December 1977. During that time, a new building had been constructed at an adjacent site, and opened in Apii 1959.
The original Piawaning School doubled as the hall. Jack Lewis would take his deckchair to the movies in the original Piawaning Hall.
