The place demonstrates a way of life, and associations with a Bendering
family..

History

Harris settled on this property. WV de Gruchy settled in Bendering in
1918, after taking up land in 1905. He was from the Jersey Islands, and jumped ship in the Swan River
Colony in 1885, aged 15 years. He established a farm, and later took over Roland Hill's property. The third
generation of the de Gruchy family now farms the property.
