Statement of Significance

Vasse Research Station has some scientific and social value as a research station but has little historic value to its recent establishment (1984). The buildings have little aesthetic value and are representative of agricultural research station buildings.

Physical Description

The Vasse Research Station is a large collection of 24 agricultural buildings, an office and six houses. The buildings are clustered closely together around a network of gravel roads.

History

In 1982 it was announced that development would start on the establishment of a large animal research station to replace those existing at Bramley, Northam and Denmark. During 1983/1984, both Bramley and Northam Research Stations were sold. The Vasse Research Station was officially opened on 9 November 1984.
