Statement of Significance

The place incorporates, however imperceptibly, the original fabric of the Albany Co-operative constructed in 1870; the place is historically important as a building dating from 1870 and through its earlier associations with the co-operative, P & O employees and Westrail; the place is of social value arising out of its association with relevant parts of the Albany community - the P & O employees and Westrail trainsmen.

Integrity/Authenticity

The integrity of the culturally significant fabric of the original Albany Co-operative, is eroded through changes and additions. Sufficient evidence exists, and would be enlarged from site investigation, to allow restoration/reconstruction of parts of the building to its original important character.
