Statement of Significance
Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical timber framed single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Physical Description
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad walls with ashlar effect and a zincalume gabled roof house. There is a bull nosed veranda supported by turned timber posts. The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Watkins Street; 61, 63, 67 & 67a.
History
A cottage and stables are recorded on lot 9/10 of 79 in 1906/7. The owner, occupier was James Jeffrey. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
