The site represents a way of life no longer practiced, and
associations with education and early settlers in Dudinin..
The site is marked with a plaque
The Yilliminning-Kondinin railway line passed through Dudinin in
preference to Wogolin, only 6 miles north along the Rabbit proof fence. By Christmas 1913, a Public
Works Department site camp was established at Dudinin and the railway line proceeded northwards
to Jitarning. On 15 March 1915 the railway line through to Kulin was taken over by the Government
and on 16 March it was officially opened. Businesses in the town of Wogolin, which had developed
to have a store, school, hall, and other amenities, relocated the buildings and functions to the newly
established settlement at the Dudinin Siding.
Wogolin Gate School was established in 1911, and had been closed before the building was
relocated to Dudinin in 1921. Many children rode their horses to school, and bush stables were
constructed to provide for the horses. The school was used until 1959 /1960. In 1956 a new school
was constructed in Dudinin within the townsite.
