The Sprigg house is significant as the only remaining settler's dwelling of
the period in the Bonnie Rock area.
Mud brick cottage with external cement render and a cement chimney. The timber framed and corrugated iron clad roof (with louvres) is still in place, covering the dwelling and the surrounding earthen floor verandahs. The dwelling still has some of the timber floors in place.
Built at the beginning of the depression, when the railway was still
just a plan, the settlers were courageous pioneers. The place was built from materials found nearby on the site, except the roofing iron and cement. In the early days, Mr & Mrs Will Sprigg and their youngest daughter Elsie slept in the house, and the boys slept in a nearby shed. In about 1969, Boyd & Ricki lived
in the home after they were married, and while they were on their honeymoon, the house was flooded.
