The place is significant for the following values:
Aesthetic Value: The church and presbytery have aesthetic significance as part of the church group of buildings on one site.
Social Value: The church and presbytery have social significance to the local community as a place of worship and for its association with the former Convent of
Mercy.
An attractive English Gothic style church built in 1937 out of hand made locally pressed and compressed concrete blocks and a terracotta tile roof. All of the blocks were manufactured on site. The adjacent presbytery is constructed of the same materials designed in traditional domestic Australian style.
The parish priest Fr. O'Grady directed the construction of the new church
and presbytery as the earlier church built in 1854 was no longer big enough
to accommodate the local congregation. The church and presbytery were
located within the convent precinct placed in line with the Mercy convent to
the west of the earlier church.
