The water reserve and the dam are significant in relation to the extension of the railway to Boyup Brook in 1909. They are of significance to the development of the town and the region.

History

The Government Dam in Williams Road Boyup Brook was constructed to provide the water supply for the railway when it was extended to Boyup Brook in 1909. It also provided water for the town.
