Percy Matthews' House is representative of timber and iron cottages from the interwar period.
Percy Matthews' House is associated with the returned soldiers housing scheme.
Timber and iron residence, with fibro extension to the rear.
Built under the returned soldiers housing scheme c. 1922 for William percy Matthews (born c. 1895, and known as Percy), son of James Matthews, and early settler to North Dandalup.
Percy fought in both WWi and WWII, and the residence was built soon after he returned from war in 1919.
Percy embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board HMAT Port Melbourne on 30 October 1916. As part of the reinforcements for the 43rd Battalion, Percy would have partaken in bloody trench warfare in Flanders, the battle of the Messines and the Third Battle of Ypres.
The house is now occupied by Percy's son, Geoff Matthews, and his wife, Merle.
