The Uniting Church has a high level of historic significance being the first church built in Byford. Its condition and pleasing design give the church aesthetic significance.
Inter-war Gothic in style with gable roof, lancet windows and circular vent. Attractively situated amongst established trees.
Built as the Presbyterian Church in 1928 on land donated by John Abernethy. Contractor was Serpentine bricklayer Fred Allum. The church was consecrated on 31 March 1928 by Rev. Tullock.
During the 1960s, all the Methodist Churches in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale joined the Byford Presbyterian Church to form the North Murray United Parish at this church. In 1977, the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches united nationally, and this church became the Armadale-North Murray Parish of the Uniting Church of Australia.
