The site represents a way of life no longer practiced.
In 1929 Solly (Johann) Roseman ran the store in Hyden, and his
brother (?), Akiva Wardeman had a store at Holt Rock at the same time. Solly ran a mail service from
Hyden and it was Solly who delivered a telegram from Holt Rock to Mr Millington to advise him that his
wife had given birth to a boy or girl child in Perth. (It was both ! twins !!) Douglas Broadley ran a
different route, along Holland's Track, through to Lake Biddy Store. Thakera later took over from
Broadley.
