Physical Description

House, 267 High Street is a single storey timber and tile house constructed as a simple variation of the Federation Bungalow style of Architecture. The walls are timber framed and clad with timber boards. The roof is hipped and gabled and clad with tiles. The verandah is under the gable, supported by square timber posts. The front façade has French doors and timber framed casement windows. A tree in the front yard prevents further description of the front elevation. There is a low rendered masonry and timber picket fence to the front boundary line.

History

As was customary in English towns, the main street of the town was named High St.
The house that stands on 267 High Street was built pre 1904/05. In 1904/05 the house was owned by William Booth and occupied by Mrs Bryant. By 1921/22 the house was owned by Jessie Leach and the tenant was Mathew Percival. Frederick Leslie Soley owned the property from the late 1920s and into the 1940s and the tenant was Louis Raymond.
The house was originally numbered 467 and changed to its current number in the 1930s and is part of Lot 1024.
