Statement of Significance

The place has associations with the Wallis family who were pioneers of the Ballidu district.

History

In 1909, when the Wallis brothers, William and Richard, travelled to the region, the furthest settler was Gus Finke near Kokardine. The Wallis brothers went another 10 miles north towards Balli Balli Soak, and set up camp 3 miles east. They subsequently selected land for themselves and their sons.

William and his wife Alice settled east of what is now the Ballidu townsite, and after a few months a bush house replaced the tent accommodation. The site of the bush house is near the existing front gate of the property.
