The Tardun Railway Siding and Crane have historic significance as an important part of the Wongan Hills to Mullewa Railway and for the role it played in opening up the surrounding district. The loading ramp and crane are remaining built evidence of the small settlement at Tardun. The crane appears to be relatively intact.
Located on the western side of the railway line at the little Tardun settlement, the cleared site is marked by a railway crane mounted on a square concrete base. A small loading ramp is located immediately to the south.
The Wongan Hills to Mullewa Railway was opened in March 1915, following which the Tardun district developed rapidly, aided by the proximity to the transport route.
