Statement of Significance

The building is considered to be an excellent example of a country church of the period, sensitively designed for climate. The building has architectural and social value.

Physical Description

The building is located in a residential part of town. The main body of the church is under a gabled roof, with angled side windows. There is a front porch and tower and what appears to be service areas at the rear, behind the altar. A horizontal bunding provides sun protection and carries around the rear of the building as decoration. There a cast concrete louvre vents at two levels above the floor. There is a marble foundation stone, at the base of the tower, with the following inscription: This stone was laid To the Glory of God by
Rev. P.A. Zweck on 9th Nov. 1958 ICov 3:11

The original fabric is fully intact giving the building a very high integrity.

Nil

Condition

Generally good although some cracking of walls beneath windows and a problem with rising damp/salt.
