The building is significant on the following grounds:
1. Built by Michael Brown - the third structure with this name on this site, present erected in
1922.
2. Named after Anthony Hordern, the entrepreneur who created the WA Land Company
which built the private railway in 1880s.
3. Major social venue for all classes of people.
4. Many major functions held there, eg. first Pioneer Dinner, the Charter Dinner of the Apex
Club, Narrogin's first service club in September 1946.
Brick and iron hotel of two storeys. Features simple verandah over
footpath with arched windows.
