The place represents the development of postal communication facilities in Lake Grace. It is integral within the main street streetscape, character and planning of Lake Grace. It responds to the adjacent former post office residence and together they represent a unity of associations with communication in Lake Grace.
The brick building has a gable corrugated iron roof. The roof features a gable frontage feature, and the verandah entry is under the main roof. The place remains unchanged except for the relocation of the front counter within the post office.
The Post Office was planned in 1925 to replace the post office run by Mrs West in Mc Mahon St (see Ref No.) It has operated continuously since 1926 as a post office.
