The City of Fremantle has identified this place as being of some cultural heritage significance for its contribution to the heritage of Fremantle in terms of its individual or collective aesthetic, historic, social or scientific significance, and /or its contribution to the streetscape, local area and Fremantle. Its contribution to the urban context should be maintained and enhanced.

Physical Description

Single storey tuck pointed brick and rendered banding and a painted corrugated iron hipped roof house. The roof extends over the verandah and is supported by timber chamfered posts. There are timber double hung sash windows extant.

History

In 1890 Fremantle Pt Lot 1000 is recorded as land ''found by owner'' Joshua Beisley. He built a four-room cottage in 1893 (No 9) and operated a dairy until 1923. In 1924, Joseph Beisley became the new occupant and presumably it was he who subdivided the lot and built the house at No 11. It was occupied by Arthur Beisley.
The house was originally number 16, and became number 11 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. Arthur Beisley was still the resident in 1949 (when post office directory records cease).
Aerial photos show that between 1985 and 1995 the house was extended to the rear and the roof line changed, with a new hipped wing running in a north south direction.
