Bridges Street was originally called Osnaburg Street. The house at No. 16 was on original Lot 457 which ran from Innes Street to Frederick Street/Burgoyne Road. At the February 1916 Council meeting it was noted that the Governor had approved the change the name of the street to Bridges Street.
