It stands as an example of a smal1 rural school building used from 1916 until 1972.
Although this building docs not boast charm. it has 'character'. It is an example of 'recycling' buildings by relocating them.
The building is rectangular. with an ante-room to one side. It has a pitched roof with sky light and a verandah all round. The open fire place is now enclosed with fibro sheeting.
The building was the first school in Salmon Gums. It served the community and district from 1928-1972 when a new school was built. The 'old' building was saved by Mr Bert Northam. the Headmaster, and relocated to Museum Park.
Integrity: Extensive repairs and renovating took place in 1949.
Modifications: Plumbing and lighting
