The site has associations with the supply of water and sustainability of settlement in the area.
In the early 1920s a well was sunk to supply water for the horse teams carrying the goods and provisions for the pioneer farmers to establish on their properties in the Lake Biddy region. Later the horse teams used in the construction of the Newdegate Railway line, used the water supply.
