History

The Namarillup Well was fed by the Namarillup Spring, which was near to where Thomas Chipper, the policeman turned cartage and mail contractor, settled in the 1850's.

After 1857, Chipper provided an essential mail service linking Perth to Albany. He finally sold his property when he was in financial difficulties in 1880, but continued to live there until 1888.
