Statement of Significance

This place was significant as the public hospital that was utilised by the district in maintaining health and well being.

Physical Description

Hospital was moved to Merredin in the 1960s and then demolished. The Hospital site is 1/2 kilometre south from the town. It was originally situated close to Carrabin Road before the road was redirected. the site is within a reserve of natural bushland.

History

The Hospital was a bungalow style building made of corrugated iron. The hospital mainly dealt with accidents from the mine, respiratory complaints and had to deal with the flu epidemic of 1918 with large casualties. The Hospital was moved to the Merriden Hospital in the 60"s and was used as the nurses quarters and then a doctors surgery. It is now demolished.
