Significant for its architectural character and its historic foundation as the Quarantine Station for Albany.
Assessment 1977
Constructed 1875 - additions and alterations to present day
A complex of buildings begun in 1875 as a quarantine station with substantial additions (mainly wooden buildings) around the turn of the century and further altered up to the present day, comprising stone and timber framed structures in varying architectural styles. The powder magazine, erected on what was then an island for security reasons is thought to date from the 1860’s.
The complex is now used as a Youth Camp and is being progressively renovated and upgraded.
