The site represents a way of life no longer practiced.
Harry Sayer came to WA in 1909, and after gaining some experience of
the Western Australian farming conditions, took up land in Bendering in 1909/10. Being the first settler of
the area, his place became a landmark, and Harry Sayer's corner was the place where the other settlers
gathered.
Settlement radiated from "Harry's Corner" or the Bendering Springs as it became known.
The surveyed blocks formed triangles, centres at the springs in the centre, the formation being likened to an
English hamlet.
Although referred to as Bendering Springs, no springs were located at this site but a
government well and tank were located on the reserve. It subsequently became a point on the track from
West Bendering to Corrigin.
