165 South Terrace is a single storey, limestone, brick and tile house built c1905 and designed as an example of the Victorian Georgian style of architecture. The walls are limestone with red brick quoins. The roof is pitched and clad with tiles. The verandah has a continuous tiled roof. There is a brick and rendered corbelled chimney evident. There is a high brick wall to the front boundary line making further description difficult.
House, 165 South Terrace was built between 1900 and c. 1910. A Metropolitan Sewerage plan dated c. 1910 shows a brick building built against the eastern boundary of the lot. The house had a full length front verandah and a rear verandah enclosed at both ends with weatherboard. It also had a centrally located front path.
By 1914/15, the property was owned by Ernest Fortescue and occupied by George Walter. At this time, it was numbered 9 Mandurah Road. Fortescue was still the owner in the early 1930s, when John Anderson was the occupant.
Cesara De Giovanni was the owner and occupier in the 1950s and 1960s. By 1981, House, 165 was owned by the Barlett family.
