The place has social and historic significance as one of the earliest garages established in Kojonup by well-known local Fred Thornbury.
The place has landmark value as a substantial garage building and situated on the main street on the top of the hill.
Twin gabled brick and iron garage building with profiled metal sheeting in gable, reflecting a simple industrial aesthetic.
Originally established by Fred Thornbury. In the 1950s it became Watson's Garage (Proprietor George Watson). It was the local RAC agent, had a tow truck and was also agent for Chrysler, BMC (including the Leyland P76) and, for a while, the NSU Wankel rotary. The garage in the 60s and 70s was a weatherboard construction and had petrol pumps on a forecourt on the southern side of the building on Albany Hwy. The little one-room office by the petrol pumps that was once there has now gone. The northern garage bay was, from May 1968, used by Kojonup Tyre Service (Proprietor Geoff McManus)
