The Binnu School has important local social significance for the community.
This school was officially opened on 02/05/1958.
(Note: There were formerly 3 other school sites in the township - Source: Barbara Williams.)
When the Galena school closed in 1963 (Site No. 159), the headmaster, Mr de Groot and 36 students were
transferred to the Binnu School which had only 24 students. [Geraldton Guardian 10/05/1988]
