Statement of Significance

The statue honours Katanning's most prominent and influential early pioneer, F H Piesse. Piesse was to have a significant effect on the development of the shire, particularly in terms of its economic development with the flour mill, brickworks and trading store to name a few. Piesse also made a significant contribution to the political life of Katanning, as well as the rest of the state, and was the first chairman of the Katanning Roads Board.

Physical Description

A bronze statue (approx 2m high) mounted on a granite pillar with information engraved. The memorial stands on a concrete floor surrounded by cast iron railing (approx 30cm high) set on granite bases.
