The place is signfiicant in demonstrating a way of life, and for it's associations with the Roberts family.
Clay brick, timber floor, no electrical service connected. The original shingle roof is still visible,
William Jenkin Roberts only daughter Matilda married Henry William Scott, son of Robert Scott of Roselands. His son Thomas Roberts took up this property opposite Scott's Roselands, and built a home in 1863 with bricks made from the clay pit on the property. Regular games of cricket were enjoyed at the homestead until a district association was formed in 1896.
Thomas Roberts and his wife Mary Ann Eliza (nee Properjohn) had eleven children. Like others in the Capel area, they ran cattle and bred remount horses for the Indian Army which were purchased by WB Mitchell and shipped from Bunbury to Calcuta.
Vernon Roberts (married May) was the tenth child of Thomas' twelve children. In 1972, Vern died and the property passed to his youngest son Ronnie Roberts.
