Single storey tuck pointed brick with two rendered bands and a Zincalume hipped roof. The roof has a brick chimney with corbelling and extends over the verandah which is supported by timber chamfered posts, brackets and balustrades.
Lot pt 995 is recorded as a vacant lot owned by James Simpson and Dora Lewis in 1900. They also owned lot 997 (now 2 and 4 Holland Street). A cottage is recorded on this lot by 1917/18 in Fremantle Rate Book records.
The post office directory lists the first occupant from 1918 as Francis Gent, who was still there in 1949 (when directory records cease).
The house was originally number 19, and became number 8 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937.
