History

Anglican Church established in Capel in December 1903, after regular meetings were held at Maitland's Lexden Park. In Stratham, Anglican (Church of England) and Wesleyan services were held at Stratham School which remained empty until 1920, after the school closed in 1906. It continued to be the venue of services, weddings and christenings until the All Souls church was built near by in 1931. Vern Roberts donated the land next to the school for the purpose of the church. A large gathering on 12 July 1931, comprising mostly members of the Scott and Roberts families, and officiated by the Rt Reverend Cecil Wilson, the Bishop Bunbury, dedicated the church. In 1997 it was deconsecrated.
