Statement of Significance

The place is representative of the more substantial residential building type and character of the period.

Physical Description

The building is coverd by a hipped roof with metal gablet vents and a broken-back roof that covers an encircling verandah with a concrete floor. The interior comprises two bedrooms, living areas and kitchen. The interior walls are lined with jarrah boards to dado height and fibro-cement lining above. The interior is unadorned with the exception of the living room which has a timber picture rail. The floors are timber throughout, now covered. The verandah on the northern elevation is partially enclosed to accommodate a third bedroom. The rear verandah has been enclosed to accommodate a bathroom and laundry.

History

Further research is required. Local oral history suggests the place was used as a brothel.

The place is now used as an Employment and Training Centre run by the Leonora Laverton Cross Cultural Association.
