Of high significance as modern complete examples of lime kiln design.
There are three kilns in very good condition, all three arch with buttresses and single entry. There is
evidence of other structures on the site, including the powder magazine for quarrying. Unlike most kiln
sites, the revegetation of this site is limited, though the dumping of rubbish such as car bodies has a
negative impact on the place. Adjacent to a bush forever area, vested in the City of Wanneroo.
Brittain (1994) claims the kilns were first operated by Speirs during the depression years and included
a domestic community. Some consider that this site has a greater claim to the 'Albert Facey'
connection. In later years the Menchetti family (lime Industries) owned the kilns. They built the
middle kiln in 1978 and this is likely to be the last kiln built in the Wanneroo district. Burning ceased
c1985.
