Barque buuilt of oak, elm and hatchwood with an iron frame.
The Canadian three-masted barque the Eglinton was wrecked on a reef off the coast of Wanneroo in
September 1852. The Captain and her crew tried to regain control of the ship but it was caught on a
second reef, now known as Eglinton Rocks. Only two of the 21 crew and 30 passengers did not
survive the hazardous journey to the beach.
