History

In 1850, John Scott marriec Catherine, the daughter of WJ Roberts of North Capel Farm, and settled on the north side of Gynudup Brook on land leased from W Hutt. They built a wattle and daub cottage and called the property Stratham Par* after the family home in Scotland.
John Scott employed TOL workers to drain the land and do the heavy work and also to make shoes and household items. TOL Edward Ashby tutored the children. In 1880, John died, and Catherine applied to the owner John McCleery to purchase the property and was refused, so she just carried on. Catherine's son George took up 100 acres close by and called the farm Sunnyside.
