The building is significant on the following grounds:
1. Erected 1919 and extended in 1920s/1930s, closed in 1950s.
2. One of the earliest major local industries of significance to the whole region.
3. Currently run, in part, as a restaurant.
4. Operation of butter factory closely linked to railways - cans of cream from individual farms
collected at rail sidings on each line.
The building consists of two distinct red brick buildings linked together under seperate corrugated iron roofs and simple agricultral buildings.
