The site of Eves & Co General Store is of significance as a general store in Meekatharra established as early as 1907 and continuing that tradition until 1949 when it was sold.
The old established storekeeping business of H. Eves & Co had premises at Nannine, Reedys, Wiluna and Meekatharra, the latter established in 1907. By 1920 it was H. & J. Eves and in 1930 H. Bell was the manager of the Meekatharra store. When Jack Eves was killed in a motor accident at Meekatharra the business was acquired by a syndicate of Tom Builder, Fred Overheu and Harold Hollingsworth in the late 1930s. During the Second World War when mines closed and there was a shortage of manpower and customers, only the Meekatharra store survived and in 1949 it was sold to Elders Smith Ltd.
